How to calculate
Formula: monthly kWh = miles × kWh per 100 miles ÷ 100. Cost = monthly kWh × rate.
Worked example: 1,000 miles per month, 30 kWh per 100 miles, rate $0.17 per kWh. Monthly use = 300 kWh, monthly cost = $51.00, cost per mile = $0.05.
Tips
Use your car's actual kWh per 100 miles from its display or manual, and your home charging rate. Public charging is usually more expensive than home charging.
