How to calculate firewood cords
A cord is 128 cubic feet of stacked wood. Multiply stack length by height by log length to get cubic feet, then divide by 128.
Formula: cords = length (ft) × height (ft) × log length (ft) ÷ 128
Worked example: 8 ft × 4 ft stack, 2 ft logs
Volume = 8 × 4 × 2 = 64 ft³. Cords: 64 ÷ 128 = 0.50 cords.
Full cord or face cord?
A face cord is only one row of a full cord, so it is much less wood. Always confirm whether a seller means full cords or face cords before you pay.

Cost tips
Prices on this page are editable estimates, not quotes. Get 2 to 3 local quotes before you buy, and ask if delivery is included. Delivery, tax and waste can change the total a lot. Order a little extra for cuts and breakage, and confirm final quantities with your supplier or a qualified professional.
